Chessplosion Balane

Chessplosion is chess with a second mode: capture a piece and you get to throw it back onto the board. Every rule of chess is in place — castling, en passant, promotion, the fifty-move rule, threefold repetition. The engine plays properly at three strengths, and if you only ever pick Normal mode you have a clean 3D chess game and nothing else. Then there is Artillery. THE THROW Capture a piece and it does not leave the game. It goes to the edge of the board in your hand, and you throw it back. Aim, judge the power, release. Rapier physics does the rest: the piece flies, lands, skids, and knocks over whatever it reaches. Everything that topples counts as captured. Including your own pieces. A greedy throw at the enemy king that takes out two of your own pawns on the way is not a bug — it is the game. THREE THROWING DIFFICULTIES Easy — set the power freely, see the whole arc, no wind. Normal — the power meter swings, so release at the right moment. Only half the arc is shown. Hard — a faster swing, only the launch direction is drawn, plus crosswind and scatter. Nothing lands exactly where you aimed. The difficulty changes the throw, not the chess. You can play the sharpest opening you know and still lose a bishop to a bad release. DEBRIS Switch it on and thrown pieces stay where they land, blocking their square for the rest of the game. The board gets tighter as the game goes on, and a corner that was safe in move ten is a trap by move thirty. WHO YOU PLAY Against the computer at three strengths, or two people at one keyboard — the board turns to whoever is to move, and that can be switched off. Or against someone who is not in the room. A correspondence game runs a move at a time: you play, and it is there when the other side next opens the game. Neither of you has to be free at the same hour. Artillery works at a distance too. The throw travels with the move, and it lands on the other screen exactly as it landed on yours — same pieces down, same board. Challenge someone from your friends list, or send an invitation link. The link works for a person who does not have the game yet. BALANE PLAY, IF YOU WANT IT One account across all Balane games: a leaderboard for pieces toppled, a friends list, and your progress follows you to the next device. Filter the board by everyone or just friends, by today, this week, this month or all time. It is entirely optional. Both modes, the computer opponent, saved games and replays all work with the machine offline, and the game never asks for an account. Guest accounts need no email address at all. SAVES AND REPLAYS Save a game in progress and pick it up later. Every finished game is recorded automatically and can be replayed move by move, with a review screen that counts what actually happened: moves, captures, throws, enemy pieces toppled — and your own. That last number is the honest one.
