Accessibility statement
Last updated: 9 October 2026
XCT.live is run by Freshdex Limited. We want everyone to be able to use it, with a keyboard, a screen reader, voice control, zoom or high-contrast settings.
The standard we work to
We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. The XCT Clear Dark and XCT Clear Light themes are made for this standard. They are the default for new members and for visitors who are not signed in. You can change the theme in Settings › Theme.
Status
XCT.live partially conforms to WCAG 2.2 level AA. This means that some parts of the site do not meet the standard yet. The parts we know about are listed below.
What you can do on XCT.live
- Use the pages with a keyboard. Every page has a link that skips to the main content, and focus is always visible.
- Zoom the page to 400%. Pages, dialogs and the picture viewers reflow to fit a screen 320 pixels wide.
- Stop moving content. Use Pause animations in the site footer or in Settings › Display, or set your device to reduce motion. The setting is saved on your account.
- Choose light or dark. The switch next to the language menu changes between XCT Clear Light and XCT Clear Dark.
- Read the charts on Community Stats as a table: open “Show as table” under each chart.
- Use the picture viewers in the Gallery with the keyboard: Escape closes them, and the arrow keys go to the previous or next picture.
Known limitations
Our own re-audit on 8 October 2026 found 64 open items in the parts of XCT.live we make ourselves: colour contrast on the panels that stay dark in XCT Clear Light, keyboard focus after sorting a table or opening a team, controls named only by a symbol, and picture viewers and dialogs that did not fit a phone screen at large zoom. All of them were closed on 9 October 2026 and checked again with a keyboard and an automated scan in both Clear themes. We keep this list honest: when a new gap is found, it is listed here until it is fixed.
The content below comes from other people and companies, and we cannot change it:
- Content from members. Posts, comments, messages, captures, GIFs, blog and roadmap pictures and gamerpics that members add can have no text alternative. A posted GIF uses its GIPHY title, and a picture uses the description its member gave, when there is one.
- Content from Microsoft and game publishers. Game art, store text and trailers come from the publishers. Trailers have no captions and no audio description.
- Content from other companies. Embedded YouTube videos and the advertising from our sponsors are made by others, and we cannot change them.
- The Original Xbox Dashboard in Labs runs the 2001 console interface. A screen reader cannot read it.
- Older themes. The other themes, and themes that members make, are not checked against the standard. Some of their colours have low contrast.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on XCT.live is hard or impossible for you to use, tell us on the contact page, or write to admin@xct.live. Tell us the page, what you tried to do and, if you use one, your assistive technology. We aim to reply within five working days.
If you need the information on a page in a different format, ask us in the same way.
How we test
We run automated checks (axe-core 4.10.2) at desktop and phone sizes, check that pages reflow at 320 pixels, walk the pages with the keyboard, and review the names, roles and states that a screen reader gets. The last full check was on 8 October 2026, in the XCT Clear Dark and XCT Clear Light themes, signed out and signed in. An external evaluation is planned.
